Labs and Facilities

The Department has the following laboratories encompassing and enriching the range of academic disciplines in which it has qualified faculty: A brief introduction to the facilities in each laboratory is presented in the following paragraphs:

Pattern Recognition Laboratory

10 Optiplex 990 PCs with Windows 7 operating system and appropriate software for simulations.

Cluster Computing Laboratory

It has a high performance cluster of 38 cores with KVM switch using Gbps cluster interconnect. The cluster is built using the Scientific Linux 6.1. It uses Hydra Process Manager for MPICH2. Programming support for Open MP and MPI is available, other library collections e.g. SCALAPACK & PETSc etc. of use in cluster environment are also installed.

Computational Laboratory I

33 P-IV PCs with Windows Xp and appropriate software.

Computational Laboratory II

30 P-D PCs with Windows 7.
