PIEAS is engaged in manpower developments at many levels and in many directions, but the major thrust is directed towards the postgraduates academic work. At this level, research and development activities become an integral part of educational process. It is ensured that all Mater's graduate get some experience of independent work on an R & D project relevant to their background and interest. Faculty members participate actively in the supervision of this work, besides contributing to other projects.
Faculty members are also encouraged to undertake collaboration work with other PAEC establishments, as well as with other universities, institutes and R & D organizations. This include PINSTECH, New Labs; DNSRP, SES, ICCC, CHASNUPP, KANUPP, KINPOE, CTC, Quaid-i-Azam University, Punjab University, Gomal University, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Peshawar university, UET (Taxela), NUST and HMC. A number of such efforts are under way and fruitful results have been obtained from many of them.
PIEAS faculty members' R & D work and the students' technical term projects have resulted into a large number of publications which include about 400 referred papers about 200 conference papers and about 300 reports and other publications. A large part of the R & D work has resulted in hundreds of Masters dissertations from M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. student projects.
