The Objective and Thrust of the Department
Department of Computer and Information Sciences (DCIS) shares in the general PIEAS objective to serve the country with outstanding undergraduate and graduate education through teaching and research. In support of this mission, PhD in Computer and Information Sciences and four year Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences programs have been initiated. As the department grows, we will maintain our high level of undergraduate instruction while increasing proportionately the graduate and professional degree programs.
The department courses have been designed with the objective to train students in the wide range areas of Computer Science and Information Technology, and make them professional in a specialised area. The broad areas of specialisation are Software Development, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded System Design, Image Processing and Numerical Computing.

The Academic Programmes
M.Phil. Computer Sciences
It is a full time degree course comprising Five regular semesters each of 14 weeks.
B.S. Computer and Information Sciences
It is a four-year full time degree course comprising a two week orientation programme and eight regular semesters each of 14 weeks (two semesters per year). For entry to this course, the students must have passed Intermediate/A-level (with Physics and Mathematics) and at least 60% marks or equivalent in both the Matriculation/O-level and Intermediate/A-level examinations. The student will study thirty two core courses, four optional courses and a seminar project spanned over final three semesters. The proposal for seminar project (one credit hour) is to be submitted in the fifth semester.
Ph.D. Computer Science
The research work on a topic related to computer science. Thesis will require an international review and minimum 3 publications in reputed journals. At present, three students are registered for their research work.
