It is a matter of great honor and pride for me that I have been entrusted with the onerous responsibilities to serve as the Rector of the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences. PIEAS has a strong faculty of highly qualified scientists and engineers in diverse disciplines of engineering and sciences and more than 40 faculty members have PhD's from renowned universities of the world.

At present, M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering and Nuclear Medicine are being conducted at PIEAS and so far it has produces around 1000 post-graduates. PIEAS is equipped with VAX computer system, network workstation, and Sun computers. It has well equipped 26 laboratories and a central library with more than 10,000 books, Its indigenous research and development makes this institution different from other institutions of Pakistan.

Although PIEAS has been accorded degree-awarding status recently but it has been in existence for more than 40 years. It was affiliated with one of the leading university of Pakistan and has produced world class graduates. PIEAS has always maintained the strict merit not only for the admission purposes but also for the promotion and passing the semesters. The student at PIEAS has to work around the clock and for this purpose boarding and lodging is at the campus. It has 4 hostel blocks (200 rooms) for single students and 10 two-bedroom houses. With the guidance of Board of Governors we will be able to conduct new educational and research programmes at PIEAS to meet the challenges of the new century.
