The Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences (PIEAS), is a Public Sector Education and Research Institute located in Nilore, Islamabad.
Founded in 1967 as Reactor School in response to increasing industrialization of Pakistan, the institute started its educational activities with the support of Quaid-e-Azam University(then called the University of Islamabad). Reactor School was renamed and upgraded into the Centre for Nuclear Studies (CNS) in 1976. The institute gained its university status in 2000 and its name was changed to Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
The university is ranked top institution for Engineering & Technology by Higher Education Commission (HEC) the regulating and accrediting authority of higher education in Pakistan in all the 3 ranking conducted (2006, 2012, 2013).
